Kicking the can

If Kicking the can was a competetive sport, our congress would win every game. They should be experts at every move and kick as well as have the largest collection of scuff-toed shoes in existence..Why is it so important to have political power and esteem when the nation is in dire need of folks with enough moxie to forget about being the strongest kid on the block and do something about the real problems facing our nation IE illegal overload, Horrendous trade deficits, wasted legislative time that only benefits their re-election, Bowing to the thousands of lobiests who clog the halls each day, listening only to those that can provide money for their ungainly careers..There is not room enough on this blog to enumerate all the ills of congress..How does the voters go about blasting this political logjam and replace most of those overdue retirees and hangers-on with genuine firebrand legislators that are interested in promoting good in this country..Do you suppose we will have a budjet on time this year, or will it be another round of continuing resolutions(more can kicking).

49th Year of wedded bliss

Don't believe the bliss part because no one can avoid times of confrontation..Any way we had a quiet little lunch at the Salt Grass steak house..Next year it probably won't be near as quiet when we celebrate the big 50...We'll see!!

Open borders

Vincente Fox said he would like to see an open border to the United States and that's what it would be..No US citizens allowed into Mexico except tourists with handfuls of money to drop in the till..Mexico is not really friendly to the US..there have been numerous instances of illegals committing crimes in the us and then fleeing across the border where they have safe harbor..It looks to me like we already have an open border if my eyes are not deceiving me on the television..Strange though, I don't see anyone going south..I also know that many jobs are being taken by these illegals that result in displacing citizens who cannot live on the meager pay that illegals receive..SO I dont want to hear that the only jobs they are getting are those that Americans won't do..The Queen is not amused!!!!

The muslim cleric Al Sadar is stirring up hate again against the Americans..If it is not stopped it will cause a regeneration of the militant arabs who follow his every word..Why in gods name are we allowing this upstart to roam freely and cause all this discontent is a real sore spot with me..He has been declared a murderer in his own country, been given amnesty etc and etc. This idiot deserves killing and there will be no lasting peace in that area until all his deciples are either killed or incarserated..And I don't understand why the Americans and the newly organized Iraqi Government don't seem to get it..

Self preservation

I went to the grand opening of a new sports store in our area..There I saw the best layout of new guns that I didn't even know existed..Keep in mind that I haven't handled anything but a deer rifle and a shotgun for nigh unto 55 yrs..I chose one of those nine mm beauties that just fit my big ole hand perfectly and decided then and there that I needed it..so now I am going to go to a carry permit school and renew my acquintance with a pistol..the last one I fired was a colt 45 automatic and I couldn't hit the side of a barn with it..But I live in Houston and every day there is a home invasion by thugs..most always someone is killed and I want that someone not to be me..It's almost unbelievable how bold the criminals have become..they follow old folks like me home and attack you in the drive way..I just want to make it a little harder for them. I promise they won't suffer!!!

Times A wastin

While the Senate is wrestling with a problem that should have been solved years ago, The country is waiting on needed legislation such as Immigration,social security, and China is yanking our hat over our eyes in the trade balance..The arab world is in an uproar (not to say thats too unusual) And i am still paying through the nose for Bush's tax cut..Higher fees higher local taxes higher school taxes..someone has to replace the funds that the states used to get from the govt..But no matter how you spread the money around, it all winds up back in the hands of those who have most of it now...

Tires, Shoes and etc.

Have you ever noticed that when you walk by the shoe dept. in most stores that it smells like you are in the tire store..I used to like the smell of new shoes almost as much as the smell of a new car..It's been a while since I have smelled the aroma of new leather..I guess I will have to go to a saddle shop for that..and gosh i hope it don't get any worse..
