Sick gerneration at home

I wasn't going to post anything today but I have been compelled to do so by some of the comments I have read coming from the lips of the anti war protesters and others who want to withdraw troops and leave the terriorists to fester and strengthen in Iraq, afghanistan and other countries. If the greatest generation had faltered as these folks are trying to do, they would be speaking Japanese or German..Think about that when you protest the use of military force to control those who would destroy our freedom..The very freedom that gives you the right to protest and belly ache..So go ahead and act that way for you are certainly belitteling yourself to the greatest generation folks..Sorry theres only about 4 million of us left..

  • i completely argee about the fact that we can argue over these matters is what makes this country great. i believe that freedom and liberty are the backbone that holds this country together. The things we need to look out for are when the government tries to limit our freedom. If you believe that war can be justifiable than can i assume that you feel that freedom is worth dying for? This is exactly why freedom is more important to me than absolute safty. i can be safe living in a bomb shelter my whole life but is that even living? Safety is important but its not the only thing. If we take away our freedom in the name of a safer america than is it even america anymore?

  • I suppose you don't remember the temporary restrictions during WW11. And yes, freedom is worth dying for. And as I have said before there are Americans beneath white crosses all over the world to protect the freedom you enjoy..Even the right to protest war, flaunt your freedom in the face of sll those that have died to give you that right. You appear to look too far down the road and not far enough back to see where freedom comes from..

  • The backbone you are speaking of is the American peoples suppport of the elected officials. War is conducted by support from the American people..Not congress, not the president, but the US military and right now the backbone is sagging like and old grey mare..When I said you didn't remember the constrictions of ww2, I didn't realize you were only 23 ys old..Of course you don't and you probably don't find those recorded in history books as those were borne gladly by the greatest generation of Americans with 16 million men under arms..and near full support of the American public..

  • I was only a child during WWll but I remember the ration cards for gas, sugar and various other items.

What I don't remember is anyone complaining about it. Sometimes we have to limit certain rights for a time.

Freedom is worth fighting for and yes some die for it. Arthur, don't you realize that many Iraqi Soldiers and Police are doing that now!? They know they have to fight for the freedom we enjoy now. A lot of them seem more than willing to fight for a better future for their familys.

  • this generation will not falter. we believe that mankind should outgrow war and murder. The greatest terrorists in the world may not be fragmented gangs of religious fundamentalists, but armies rolling across foreign countires. The US in Iraq is committing the same type of invasion as the Nazi's : Empire Building. Democracy in Iraq? As much as there is in the Us, which is not much.

  • Mark..My mind almost did a belly flop when I read that you said we could just grow out of warfare..Some factions in this world cannot be dealt with any other way..There has has been war on earth ever since there was man..Your theory has been tried, and tried, and tried only to be followed by conflict..Some people just think as long as you are only going to negotiate that you are weak and they will get their way in the end..If there is a way to compromise fairly, I have no problem with that..But if the compromise is grossly overbearing and damages the freedom you and I enjoy, then war is the only solution..
